Last weekend Trica & I made our 20^th pilgrimage to Bathurst to be part of Australia’s greatest motor race, the Bathurst 1000. The crowd was the second highest on record with over 205,000 spectators over the four days.

There were several highlights but the main ones were:

Bathurst Legends. Ten Bathurst legends together with their cars were in attendance. Between them they have achieved 22 Bathurst victories.

Scott McLaughlin’s “Lap of the Gods”. On Saturday Scott shattered the qualifying lap record with a time of 2 minutes 3.8312 seconds. This put him on pole for Sunday’s race but unfortunately an engine failure on lap 75 ended his & co-driver Alex Premat’s race.

Victors David Reynolds & Luke Youlden. Erebus, one of the smallest teams, proved that even the giants like Triple Eight, Prodrive, DJR Team Penske and Walkinshaw Racing can be beaten. This team was only formed in 2013 and originally ran Mercedes AMG’s but recently switched to Holden Comodores. What is equally amazing is their second car driven by Dale Wood & Chris Pither finished fourth.

Next weekend we do it all again at the Gold Coast 600.
