GOLD COAST 600 RACE ABANDONED BECAUSE OF RAINOn Sunday morning a severe thunder storm was forecast for around race time. David Reynolds in the Erebus Commodore was starting from pole position & I snapped a shot of the RAAF FA-18 Hornet from the top floor of our unit block. From this position I could see lightning starting to appear in the west.
The race started but the sky got darker & darker. Soon after the start the rain came down in buckets as predicted. The standing water on the track from the thunderstorm forced the race to be abandoned on Lap 43 and was declared with no points awarded.
